Carob room – Casa La Torre Puglia

Located on the ground floor, the Carrubo room (Casa La Torre Puglia) is ideal for couples looking for a comfortable, practical solution, a “base” to return to many times from the sea or from short excursions that the Itria Valley offers.

The Carrubo room (Casa La Torre Puglia) offers a comfortable space in typical Apulian style and, being located on the ground floor, is an excellent solution for travellers with reduced mobility or small children. An independent room overlooking the old town 150m from the sea, it has a double bed (or two single beds on request). The floor in chianca, a typical Apulian limestone slab, reflects the architecture of the place, making light colours and typical details prevail. The room also has a functional shower and hairdryer, air conditioning, free wifi, tea and coffee making facilities, minibar, HD TV, Netflix and a wardrobe and an outdoor table.

What is the carob tree?

An evergreen tree and a protected species in Apulia, the carob tree is a typical Mediterranean plant, the fruits of which are mainly used to obtain flour (carob flour) or to be eaten raw.

The ancient Greeks and Romans used carob seeds as a unit of measurement, known as the keration. This unit is still used today to measure the weight of gemstones. That’s in fact where the word carat comes from!
